Day 41- Prince George, BC
We spent a day in Prince George learning about their history. First thing this morning we visited the Railway and Forestry Museum and it was very interesting. We were able to climb in the engines and cars to see what it was like in the old days! Mike especially liked the mechanical part of the engines. We even got to see inside a caboose and they had a plaque explaining why they are not needed anymore on the railways. It is because things are all mechanical and electronic and don’t need people to do the jobs.
After lunch we visited the Fort George Park and the Exploration which was an on-hands learning museum for kids. They had a fantastic fossil exhibit with dinosaurs. It is one of the most complete exhibits we have seen. Also they had an animal’s exhibit from this area. We only wish we had the grandkids to see and experience it. Afterwards we walked along the river and enjoyed a very nice sunny day! Finally!
In the late afternoon we washed our clothes and visited with camper neighbors. They are from Oregon and have been in Alaska as well. They have two chest freezers in back of his truck full of fish from their trip. This is their fourth trip and have bought property there. SO we enjoyed listening to their tales about trying to build in Homer area.
It will be early to bed so we can get to Jasper early tomorrow since we have no reservations.
