It was a day was spend driving and riding ! We made it to Whitehorse in 51/2 hours today. We also had a time change as well. It is nor Pacific time zone until we get to Alaska and they have their own time zone. The drive was good and we enjoyed the scenery. But the only animal we saw was a lone rabbit!
We did a side trip and walked to a small waterfall. It good to get out and stretch our legs. Once we got the camper set up we went into town. There we visited the visitors center and got a personal tour of the government (legislative) area of the capital. They are only 18 representatives in the legislature in Yukon for 38,000 people. Whitehorse is the largest city with population of 30,000. They have the same government structure like all the other provinces. They also have a surplus of money due to gold and mineral resources. After our tour we walked around town to get our bearings. We will see the museums on Thursday.
Our walk around the campgrounds, tell us that there are a lot of Americans going to Alaska and most of us are gray!! SO it is fun talking others about their adventures.
Tomorrow we will be going to Skagway, Alaska for a ride on the White Pass Yukon Route Railway.
