We arrived at Prince Rupert at 6:00 Am this morning which was about 45 minutes late. It took us a while to get off the ship and go through customs. Our luck ran out and we had an officer wanted to check the camper and its contents. Once we got done, we were able to find a coffee shop and get breakfast. It was our plan to stay there and look at the sights. But it was raining cats and dogs and was not to stop today. So we decided to come inland and see if we can get out of the rain. Well, we stopped at Smithers for the day. It was lunch time and boy did the 200 miles go fast! We are amazed at it. I guess the roads were smooth with very few potholes so we made good time. We are camping in a river valley with a view of the mountains and a glacier from the dining table. The problem is that it is raining off and on. We had wanted to walk near the glacier and hoping the sun will stay out. This area is very much like Alaska with all the mountains, waterfalls and glaciers. It is what the geologists call temperate rainforest.
I am using the time to get caught up with the blog since I have not had internet service since Haines Junction. Tomorrow we will have a short drive to Prince George and will spent an extra day there. We called ahead for a campground till Tuesday since Monday is BC Day and all the BC people are off.
